Pendleton PFI, Salford
We are providing general engineering services on this large PFI regeneration project in Pendleton, Salford. We are part of the INSPIRAL consortium, led by Regenter and Great Places Housing Association, with Seddon Homes and Rok Construction.
The site covers an area of 75 hectares. The proposals include the demolition of five tower blocks, refurbishment of nine tower blocks, 1500 new-build homes, and refurbishment of 1250 existing houses. There are ambitious proposals for new green spaces, community buildings, shops, public realm and civilised streets. Construction starts in 2011 and will take 11 years to complete all phases.
Over the last twelve months we have been developing strategic proposals for the project in close consultation with Salford City Council and their Partners. A planning application was submitted in August 2010 for phase one in detail, and the entire master plan in outline.
